M/V "OPHELIA" - 35M MOTOR YACHT
35m Motor vessel Ophelia recently spent two weeks in the shipyard housed in one of the new 60m sheds. Varied works were completed on the vessel including paint, engineering, antifoul and interior. Ophelia was built in Cairns in 2004 at NQEA and has since been cruising Australian and Pacific waters.
VIKING INDUSTRIES ACQUIRES CAIRNS SLIPWAYS
Announced last week was the very exciting news that Viking Industries has purchased Cairns Slipways, a subsidiary of NQEA. We look forward to being able to offer a fully integrated service to vessels of up to 1200 tonnes. Cairns, with its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, is an ideal location offering a comprehensive range of services to the commercial market, naval craft and the growing superyacht industry in Eastern Australian waters.
In addition, the acquisition in 2004 of FMCA (Furniture Manufacturing Company of Australia) has increased the enquiry rate of large superyachts requiring interior works.
M/V "SEAFARIS" - 38M MOTOR YACHT
Having arrived into Brisbane Marine Industry Park in February 2005 for a full interior fitout and paintworks, the project is now in full swing. With the likes of galley, refrigeration and general interior fitout near completion, the project is taking shape.
